About Me

firefox I am a Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Dr. Joseph T. Francis in Biomedical Engineering, Cullen College of Engineering at the University of Houston.

I received a Ph.D. degree advised by Dr. Nikolaos V. Tsekos at the Medical Robotics Laboratory in Computer Science, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Houston. During my Ph.D. program, my primary research interest was to study sensors and robotic studies for magnetic resonance image (MRI)-guided and robot-assisted surgeries. Topics researched include optically tuned/detuned MR-visible markers, optical/NMR dual modality probes, 3D reconstruction of tubular structures from multiple orthogonal MR projection images and MR-compatible optical encoders. Also, I worked for the International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSSO) as an Instructional Assistant.

Before coming to the University of Houston, I was a graduate student in Computer Science at the University of Pittsburgh.

Before coming to the University of Pittsburgh, I worked as a Senior Software Engineer in WOOJEON & HANDAN Co., Ltd. for four years and developed Set-Top Boxes (STB), Digital Video Recorders (DVR) and Internet Protocol televisions (IPTV). This company is one of Forbes Magazine's Asia's 200 Best Under A Billion in 2010 list.

Prior to that, I was a Master's student in Computer Science & Engineering at Konkuk University and was also a part of the Real-Time System Engineering (RTSE) Lab, working under the supervision of Prof. Moon Hae Kim. I researched Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Ornithopter (Flapping Wing Flight), Time-triggered Message-triggered Object (TMO), and Real-Time Operating System (RTOS).

I received my M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science at Konkuk University in South Korea.

I also worked as a Software Team Leader in UNIVERSAL REAL-TIME, Inc. and developed an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, collaborative software, and web-based enterprise management system.
